Our Volunteer of the Month, Rollo Wright!
Rollo joined TimeGivers through a recommendation from Kitty, a mutual friend of Kates, who mentioned her husband was looking to get more involved in voluntary work. Initially, Rollo was unsure if his skills would be a good fit for TimeGivers. However, he quickly warmed to the idea and decided to help out with our playground project at Garratt Park School - a decision that proved invaluable.
When initially visiting Garratt Park, Rollo recognised the potential for transformation of the outdoor spaces. He took on the challenge with enthusiasm, dedicating himself to the project on a weekly basis and also rallying additional volunteers from the local Wandsworth community, an area where TimeGivers has relatively limited connections.
Thanks to his efforts, the project has became a wonderful collaboration between volunteers and the young people involved, leveraging the strengths of many and encouraging a spirit of teamwork.
Rollo’s consistent dedication, his eagerness to learn and positive energy have been a beacon for both the young people, fellow volunteers and teachers at the school.
A huge thank you, Rollo, for your unwavering support and the incredible impact you’ve made already at Garratt Park. We’re so lucky to have you as part of the TimeGivers family!

Q: How did you first hear about TimeGivers?
A: Through my wife.
Q: How do you think volunteering with TimeGivers has impacted you?
A: I’ve spent time with friends that I normally don’t get to see much; I’ve met some lovely fellow volunteers who live locally; I’ve been inspired by the wonderful teachers at the school and most of all it’s been a pleasure getting to know a couple of great kids that we’ve been working alongside.
Q: What do you think is the benefit of TimeGivers for young people?
A: It gives young people the opportunity to doing something interesting, different, often creative that they almost certainly wouldn’t ordinarily be doing. It also reinforces the positive aspects of doing things for other people, not least how good it can feel!
Q: Do you remember a particularly special moment?
A: Not one moment necessarily, but looking back and appreciating how over time the young people we work with have become more positive, trusting, relaxed and engaged.
Q: Why do you like working with TimeGivers?
A: I work alongside a great and diverse group of people on a shared mission.
