Community Partner Spotlight: St Vincent's House Care Home (Care UK)

Over the past year, TimeGivers has been proud to partner with St Vincent's House Care Home on a range of intergenerational projects that have brought young people and residents together in meaningful ways.

As communities become increasingly disconnected, creating opportunities for different generations to spend time together has never been more important. Through simple activities, shared stories and genuine conversations, young people and older adults can learn from one another, build friendships and reduce feelings of loneliness. This is exactly why partnerships like St Vincent's House are so special to us.

From donating sensory boards created by students to celebrating D-Day through shared activities and conversations, every visit has helped foster connections across generations and create moments of genuine joy.

This partnership reached a particularly special milestone when St Vincent's House selected TimeGivers as the beneficiary of a recent fundraising event. Through the sale of artwork created by residents, alongside generous donations from families and staff, the care home raised an incredible £325 for TimeGivers.

The gesture came as a complete surprise to our team and left us deeply grateful for the kindness and support shown by the St Vincent's House community.

A Shared Mission

The partnership began in May 2024 following a meeting between TimeGivers and the Lifestyle Team at St Vincent's House.

Reflecting on how the relationship started, the team shared:

"We first connected with TimeGivers in May 2024. We were immediately inspired by their genuine commitment to making a difference in people's lives and felt confident about moving forward with this meaningful collaboration."

The organisation recognised a shared commitment to reducing loneliness and creating opportunities for meaningful connection.

The Impact of Intergenerational Activities

The residents and staff at St Vincent's House have welcomed young volunteers with open arms, and the benefits have been felt across the whole community.

"Every visit lights up our home with smiles, laughter and genuine connections between generations."

At a time when many older adults experience social isolation and young people are reporting increased feelings of loneliness themselves, these opportunities to connect have never been more valuable. By bringing generations together, we create spaces where people feel seen, heard and part of something bigger than themselves.

These visits have become a highlight for many residents, offering opportunities to share stories, learn from one another and build friendships across age groups.

When asked about a favourite memory from working with TimeGivers, the team found it impossible to choose just one.

"It is genuinely difficult to choose just one moment, as every visit has been special."

Each session brings new conversations, shared experiences and opportunities for connection, reminding us of the powerful impact that bringing generations together can have.
