After three years of dedication, creativity and commitment, we said goodbye to Georgina Tarling as she embarked on an exciting new chapter pursuing her dream of becoming a marine biologist.

Georgina joined TimeGivers in the early days as Kate's assistant and quickly became an essential part of the organisation's growth. With a natural talent for organisation and planning, she soon stepped into the role of Programme Manager, helping to shape what would become our Schools Programme.

Working alongside Kate and the small team at the time, Georgina played a key role in developing volunteering opportunities for young people, testing new ideas and building the foundations of a programme that now reaches schools and youth hubs across London.

Beyond programme delivery, Georgina was instrumental in creating TimeGivers' CRM system, giving the charity a way to track its work, measure impact and support future growth. Many of the systems we still use today have Georgina's fingerprints all over them.

From Chance Meeting to TimeGivers

Georgina first discovered TimeGivers through a remarkable coincidence.

"In one of life's serendipitous moments one of my closest friends sat next to Kate on a train up to Yorkshire and they both got chatting. When my friend told me about this charity that had just started up, I couldn't help but be intrigued, and when Kate contacted me I jumped at the chance to help out."

Watching the Impact Grow

Reflecting on her time with the charity, Georgina spoke about how special it was to be part of TimeGivers from the beginning.

"As one of my first jobs since university, having the opportunity to work for a small charity right at the beginning of its journey has been such a unique and rewarding experience."

Seeing young people engage in volunteering week after week left a lasting impression.

"Participating in the volunteering activities every week really opened my eyes to how powerful it can be, especially for young people, and I've learnt so much from all the incredible people I've met along the way."

Why Volunteering Matters

For Georgina, one of the most important benefits of TimeGivers is the positive effect giving back has on young people themselves.

"I think one of the most powerful benefits is the way helping others makes you feel. It is so beneficial for mental health and the amount of smiles we see is a testament to this."

She believes that even small acts of kindness can teach young people valuable lessons about empathy, community and their ability to make a difference.

A Moment to Remember

One memory has stayed with Georgina throughout her time at TimeGivers.

"I think one of my favourites is remembering the smile on this elderly man's face when one of the primary children came up to give him the drawing he'd just made. Both had been quite quiet and shy throughout the activity, but looked so happy in this moment, showing the power giving to others can have."

Thank You, Georgina

When asked what she enjoyed most about TimeGivers, Georgina highlighted the people.

"Being able to work with the most wonderful team of kind, thoughtful, creative and caring people."

Her calm presence, thoughtful leadership and unwavering dedication helped shape TimeGivers into the organisation it is today. While we miss having her as part of the day-to-day team, she will always be part of the TimeGivers family.

We wish Georgina every success in her future career and look forward to seeing where her next adventure takes her.
