About the event
We will provide all of the crafting materials to build different sensory boards for the elderly. Sensory boards benefit elderly people with dementia by providing stimulation and reducing restlessness. They offer tactile, visual, and auditory engagement, triggering memories and cognitive responses. Additionally, they promote relaxation and ease agitation, while aiding in motor skill maintenance. Through familiar objects, they encourage reminiscence therapy, improving mood and well-being. Sensory boards thus serve as valuable therapeutic tools for individuals with dementia.
The children will enjoy the activity and be able to chat to some elderly in the care home. It is a great opportunity for them to do meaningful activities over the holiday and give back to the local community.
